Trying New Food

i was thinking for my next blog post i would try some new food. So yesterday I went to yummy pho; a Vietnamese noodle shop on Normandy Boulevard. I have been to Yummy Pho one other time when it first opened. I was alot younger and very picky back then and because of this I didn’t get anything to eat. Instead I just tried the Boba tea; which I thought was good. Its been a long time since then, and I’m no longer as picky and enjoy trying new and different foods, so I decided why not go back, and use the experience to write about in my next blog post.

I met my girlfriend around 4 for her lunch break. The Place had a nice vibe; I enjoyed the music they were Playing, and the staff was nice. It was quiet inside other than music and there was only one other group of people. We sat down and they started by bringing us a plate of vegetables, like lettuce, spinach, mint and sprouts to add to our soups. Then they took our order. I got the Bun Bo Hue, a spicy beef soup; and My girlfriend got the Pho Tom, a shrimp soup. We then ordered some of there bang bang shrimp appetizer.

It didn’t take long for the food to come out, maybe like 5 minutes. The bowls were huge for only being $9.99. My soup was an orangish color and contained green onions, yellow onions, parsley, jalapenos, limes, blood cubes, beef, and vermicelli noodles. My girls soup was more of a clear liquid and had green onions, yellow onions, shrimp and vermicelli noodles. The bang bang shrimp was a deep-fried shrimp roll, it kinda looked like a shrimp inside of eggroll wrap. It came with 5 shrimp and a sweet chili sauce.

My Bun Bo Hue soup tasted very good. All of the ingredients worked really well together. The beef was my favorite part; it went good with the spicy soup base. If there was one thing I would’ve changed about it, it would be that I would make it spicier. That’s my fault though because I didn’t realize until I looked at the menu again, but they allow you to chose how spicy you want it. I also tasted my girls soup which I didn’t like as much; her soup base tasted like straight vegetable water, She thought it was good though. The bang bang shrimp were awesome. They had a crunchy outside with a softer inside. I liked them both with and without the sweet chili sauce they were served with.

Overall it was a great experience, I couldn’t say anything bad about it. I would give it a 10 out of 10, from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere. I would definitely recommend Yummy Pho to anyone. I’m happy and thankful for this assignment because it gave me a new experience that I enjoyed and a new place I will be eating.
